Ok. This is getting annoying. I really need to reiterate some things. I have a comment policy. So, please read it before commenting. Also, I need to add a couple of things to it. Insulting me (or women in general) via e-mail and claiming it is personal just does not cut it. I am open to discussion, but that means my readers must be open to criticism too. If you can’t take it, stay away. Here is an updated version of my existing comment policy.

All opinions expressed in the blog posts are mine and mine alone. If I have used someone else’s comments or opinions, I either cite them verbatim, or link to their blog (assuming they have one) or at least credit them in some way. So, if you have a problem with it, you are free to say so. But, that DOES NOT MEAN you insult or degrade or threaten.

Comments on my blogs are not moderated. That is because I believe in the right to free speech. But, let me make it clear that the site, and blogs associated with it, belong to me. If I find inappropriate or insulting comments, I reserve the right to delete them. I refrain from moderation because I believe my readers are informed and educated people who can differentiate between a disagreement and hate speech.

I made the mistake of bothering to take someone seriously once. All provocative emails will henceforth be summarily deleted and NOT ACKNOWLEDGED.

Finally, please leave a name when you comment. Anonymous comments are not disabled, but you will make a better impact if you leave a name, any name, even if it is a pseudonym. I don’t take opinions of those who refuse to name themselves seriously. Nor to I deign to reply. That should speak for itself.

Amrutha I keep the option of ‘comment moderation’ to avoid some comments which just intend to provoke, use unacceptable language, some are personal attacks on me or on other bloggers/readers.
I have been meaning to write a post in response to the guy who has issues with women wearing sleeveless and getting their eyes plucked, but I wonder if he means what he says, or is he just trying to get some attention?
Hello Amrutha, you seem to have really annoyed. It’s been quite some time since I paid a visit though I’ve you in my blogroll so no idea about the irrevernt comments. And in my experince, its the ‘anons’who always leave unwanted, biased and even obscene comments.
IHM: I am in the process of taking everyone’s advice and migrating to wordpress. Have enables comment moderation there. I think you are right.
Arun: No, it was not on a comment. It was by email. And then, he gets angry that I rebutted his arguments in public. It’s extremely annoying.
Amrutha, I have been troubled by these commentators for a long time but after I became strict, the bad comments have gone down. WordPress is really good as you can only keep new commentators on hold, until you trust them completely. Even then things do glitch, but still wordpress is better.
About the commentators, they get a kick talking and interacting with women, which they probably don’t otherwise. 99 percent of people who have left bad comments on my blog are men, and 99% write under psuedonyms. Just recently I had one guy, who was continuously writing provocative comments and finally I have put him on my blacklist. Comments on the blacklist do not appear at all. The person cannot post.
Also, please let us know your wordpress url. It will be great to have you there, much easier to keep in touch.
Nita: Yes, I am moving to WordPress. But, it will be a custom domain, so my URL will remain unchanged. I haven’t had the timeover the last few days. Will move this weekend at the latest.
No worries dear..Even I get sick sexist vulgar comments..I try hard not to moderate or edit,but one person named harshad was too vulgar,beyond limits,that i put him in moderation..
Try not to take comments personally..They are just attention seekers…
